Mundicenter Group has actively implemented measures aimed at environmental protection and taken steps to achieve sustainable development.

APCC PACT FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The APCC - Portuguese Association of Shopping Centers promoted on June 21st the signing of a Pact for Sustainability, joined by Mundicenter and other associates and operators in the sector , which incorporates the commitment to integrate sustainable practices in all aspects of the operations of the Shopping Centers.

The pact is based on three main pillars: environmental responsibility; social responsibility; and economic responsibility and ethical conduct.

PORTUGUESE BLOOD AND TRANSPLANTS INSTITUTE

The Annual Blood Donation Campaign of Blood and Transplants Portuguese Institute (IPST) and Mundicenter is organized to raise awareness on the life-saving importance of donating blood.

On the 5th and 7th September of 2022 at Oeiras Parque and Braga Parque, Mundicenter and IPST appealed for blood donation and collected 157 units of blood.

Natal de todos e para todos

In 2020, during the Christmas season, Mundicenter supported the restaurant sector and the community by purchasing more than 2,200 meals from its shopping center restaurants and distributing them to social institutions..

• Oeiras Parque: Associação de Imigrantes Mundo Feliz - 336 meals
• Spacio Shopping: Centro Paroquial dos Olivais - 290 meals
• Strada Outlet: Instituto Português de Pedagogia Infantil, Centro Comunitário Paroquial da Ramada, Centro Comunitário e Paroquial de Famões, Centro Social Paroquial da Póvoa de Santo Adrião - 220 meals

Donation of COVID 19 Personal Prevention Material to Nursing Homes

In 2020, Mundicenter supported 10 Nursing Homes with the donation of personal protective material for the prevention of COVID-19.

In total, it was donated 9,500 surgical masks, 16,000 disposable gloves, 960 500ml alcohol gel packs and 400 visors.

ZERO WASTE MOVEMENT

The Zero Waste Movement, which Mundicenter endorsed, was created with the purpose of ending food waste, helping  people  with needs and the environment by reducing organic waste.

This movement was organised by the Dariacordar Association under the high patronage of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, and calls for people to recover this type of waste, to help address the needs of some Portuguese families.

RENEWABLE ENERGIES

The use of renewable energies is a common practice in the various group companies:

Amoreiras Square

The Amoreiras Square minigeneration photovoltaic installation was the first one in the Lisbon region, and the third in the country.

Main features:

• 196 photovoltaic panels;
• 8 inverters;
• installed capacity of 42.32 Kw;
• Average annual production of 63 MWh/year;
• reduction of 29.2 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Braga Parque

In 2015 was installed in Braga Parque one of the biggest photovoltaic plant in a coverage Building  in Portugal.

Main features:

• 3080 photovoltaic panels;
• 27 inverters;
• installed capacity of 770 Kw;
• estimated annual production of 1,000 MWh/year;
• reduction of 475 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year

Arena Shopping

The installation work of the central of Arena Mall were initiated in November 2015 and completed by the end of the year.

Main features:

• 800 photovoltaic panels;
• 7 inverters;
• installed capacity of 200 Kw;
• estimated annual production of 280 MWh/ year;
• reduction of 135 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
